Valerie’s POV

The battlefield around me was alreadyin chaos, there was a lot of smoke in the air and even blood soaking into the ground under our boots, the sound of metal and claws and screams blending into one unbearable noise that never stopped.

But somehow…I knew I wasn't alone in it.

“Left!” I moved immediately when I heard his order. My blade swung just as the demon lunged, slicing it clean through its throat. Black blood sprayed across my arm, hot and thick, but I barely noticed.
