Chapter 198. Back from the Dead

Chris left the house that had long served as my hiding place as night fell. I stayed there alone, in one of the places where the windows did not let in any light, for fear of being discovered. The news showed a panorama that contained much more in the way of new information.

Queen Dove had two children, the poisoning of the river—everything that had happened since I left far outweighed the conflicts of the past. Surely the guards would not be looking for me; they would have many other orders to follow, such as the fanatical hunt in the city, which is still ongoing.

My new life consisted of running hopelessly through the streets, hiding in the narrowest corridors where no one could see me for long. I tried not to even raise my head or cause any conflict; I was like a ghost begging for mercy.
