There was a terrible commotion in the castle, and I could roughly tell when the healer came through my door without knocking. He was in a hurry, nerves showing in his eyes and facial expressions, looking desperate.
“We do not have as much time as we thought,” he said, closing the door behind him and sitting down on the floor as if to cover it so no one could enter.
“Stop exaggerating; you are safe here. You have an official job, and they do not need to suspect you,” I smiled; it was no big deal. Lion was not Larry; if he was behind the investigation, he would not know anything. “I want you to answer me when you find out something about Jason.”
That annoyed him to no end.
“Your love interests are not the main thing,” he said with a contemptuous look. “I have got nothing; it’s as if he’s fallen off the face of the earth. The boy has not been seen by anyone on the street; he has not sought shelter in the homes for the wretched.”
