I became upset when I remembered that Tristan said our DNA didn't match, so having a baby together was impossible. That was something that he really should have told me sooner. I didn't want children any time soon, but the idea of never being able to have them broke my heart. Especially since he told me that he wouldn't turn me.

Does that mean I'll never be a mom? I exhaled heavily then picked up the pregnancy test.

Negative.

I sighed with a mix of relief and sadness. I knew it was the best possible result, because the way my life was at the moment. I could barely look after myself, let alone a baby. I threw it in the bin, then made my way back downstairs.

“It's negative,” I said softly to Tristan, but I got no reply.

I could see the back of his head over the couch, but he wasn't moving. Panic engulfed me when thoughts of him being dead flooded my brain. I held my breath as I asked nervously,
