Chapter 11

We got to the end of the dirt road, ready to finally leave the property, when we heard an almighty ear-piercing screech. I shot my head around to look behind us, but I couldn't see anything. Evan pulled the car over. I undone my seatbelt and got out of the car. I stood there looking into the woods and heard another screech. I watched as the startled birds flew up and out of the trees, then a brilliant white light shot up into the sky from the middle of the woods.
“Mason's heart is breaking. He knows he's losing his Fianna,” Evan said in a low and sad voice as he put his arm around my shoulder. I rested my head on his chest and sighed.
I felt bad for Mason; I really did. He had waited for me for a very long time, and I guess he thought that once he found me, we would stay together forever. He never would've expected his Fianna to be in love with somebody else, especially not a werewolf.
