Saphira decided it was finally time to tell us exactly what had happened between her and the Goddess Rene—that account, after all, was essentially her origin story. I shifted in my seat and glanced at Nora, silently asking, Was it wrong for us to sit here and listen to all this? Shouldn’t the Goddess herself have the chance to share her own story when she felt ready? Nora met my eyes and gave me a small, reassuring nod. I took that as a signal to stay put and pay attention.

She was probably right. Learning the truth by any means necessary was better than remaining in the dark. We could always ask the Goddess Rene for her side of the story once we returned to the Umbra Veil pack.
