Mehoffer opened his sparkling blue eyes and looked around. He was in a cave and could see his four friends, brothers and allies still passed out, their huge wings soiled with blood and dust, each lying in a corner of the dark cave. The fight was fierce. He sat up and felt his palm burn and discovered that the bat's ring had stayed with him and became angry. When he was thrown down to earth, expelled from heaven, he knew that the day he took that ring off, he would die and he unwillingly put it on his finger, turning the insignia part inwards and then stood up. He looked at the hand of each of his brothers and discovered the creature that each of them would beget, if they dared to be with a native of that place. He didn't care about that. He would never be interested in any of those inferior creatures.
