The Price of Honesty

I wake up with the worst hangover I’ve had in my whole life. The worst. I’ve probably inherited my family’s attraction to alcohol, but not the tolerance. No messages, no nothing from Nathan. I toy with the idea of skipping school, but we had an essay due, and it’s an important one. Like, an important one and if I lose my scholarship, I’m in the deepest shit. I put the first clothes I see on and head out. The bus is late. Which means I am late. I almost run down the hallway once I’m at school. I push past people, some complain, others just want to say watch where you go, but seeing the look on my face, they probably think twice. I fumble with my bag when I run into someone.
“Shit,” I say and look up.
