Chapter 30

Revelations

“Can’t we just agree that you’re the smart one, and I’ll be doing sports?”

Jeremy only gives me a blank stare, and taps on my notebook.

“Do the next one. I’m going to the bathroom.”

He kisses me briefly and disappears. We’re at my place, and since I have to pick Stela later anyway, and drive him home, we decided to come here and study together.

And he is right, so I’ve bent my head over the book again when he storms in.

“Jer?”

“Why do you have this?”

I frown at the orange plastic container in his hand.

“Uh, you mean the painkillers?”

“Yes? And that’s not just painkillers.”

“That’s for the leg.”

He is still standing there.

“I thought your leg was fine.”

“Kind of. Yes.”

“So it’s not.”<
