Emma was beginning to feel out of place.
They walked into the kitchen. A beautiful woman with a perfectly coiffed bob looked up from the food she had been stirring. “Sweetheart,” she said as she stretched her hands towards Daniel and he came forward to give her a hug. The sense of calm that always settled on him when he was with his family wrapped around him like a warm embrace.
Though his mother and sister had lived in the house for only four years, it was home because they were there.
