Chapter 52. Stalker
After lunch we strolled towards the northern side of the island where the pine trees were thick. It was a bit of an uphill trek and most island beach goers came here for the sand and water, not the forest.
We walked into a thick area of the forest and sniffed all around. No human or wolf scent was detected by any of us. We found large enough bushes to strip off our clothes and hide them. Our wolves took off running like children at a play park. Rocky kept nipping at Leo's wolf teasing him.
Rae loved the feel of fresh dirt under her paws and the smell of pine in the air mixed with a light sea breeze. It reminded me of the time we vacationed at the northern California coast, where the giant red wood pine trees grow along the Pacific Ocean coastline. It's such a relaxing and distinctive smell.
