Chapter 190. Finale

Elise’s POV

“Love you too!” I let out a long breath, watching Kalix leave. Now it was just me. I laid in bed a few more moments, then dragged myself to my closet to get ready for bed. Today was a long day I never wanted to repeat.

As I tossed and turned, trying to find sleep, Caius’s voice came to me. Kalix told me how to close our link, but I didn’t want to. Subconsciously, I hoped I would hear his voice again, and if there was any real danger, I wanted to know right away, too.

His words sent shivers through my body, breaking a dam of tears from my eyes. As badly as I wanted to respond, I couldn’t. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to yell at him or call him to me, probably both.
