She stirred slightly in her sleep, eyes slowly moving behind her lids before she finally let out a groan and opened them. Maverick heard shuffling and groans. His heart rate quickened as he rushed to her side and helped her sit.

“Careful.” He mumbled with gentleness placing his one hand behind her head and with the other he adjusted the blanket. Grace felt her blurry vision clearing and she tried to stop and remember what happened before she lost consciousness. But somewhere deep within she hoped none of that to happen, she didn’t want to recall those vile memories. Unfortunately, every detail came passing and she sighed. Maverick looked carefully at her face, her tear-stained cheeks and bloodshot eyes. He felt something squeezing in his chest, painfully that it almost felt difficult for him to breathe.
