Savannah’s POV
My vision comes in flashes.
I see the dirt on the ground where I lay.
I see the flip phone has fallen and it’s lying just an arm’s length away from me.
The phone switch must’ve gotten turned on when it fell, because the screen lights up.
My hand slowly reaches for it, but it’s farther away than I thought. I can’t reach it.

I must’ve twisted my ankle or broken a bone or something, because I can’t seem to get up.
Meanwhile, I keep trying to reach for the phone, and as my finger grazes the side of that phone, a foot steps into my periphery, kicking that phone away.
“You’ve been a very bad girl, Miss Wilcox,” a voice says. I register that as Aidan, Carter’s oldest brother.
“We need to get rid of her,” Brett, the second brother replies. “She saw us.”
