Chapter 16
“Thank you for everything. You don’t have any idea what you have done for me,” Hillary said, and Asher nodded.
“Nice doing business with you,” Asher said. “If you need my help again in any way. Don’t hesitate to call.”
Hillary nodded. “I sure will,” he said.
Minutes later, Asher left.
“Y’all let her get away, you stupid bastards!” Alex yelled. He took a chair and hurled it at the wall. The chair broke, one of the pieces barely missing one of Chase’s eyes.
No one moved. They just stared into space like zombies.
“You guys had one job, one job damn it… And you blew it. How hard is it to watch one girl!” Alex yelled, kicking a stool. He moved forward and grabbed Johnny by the collar of his shirt. “How the hell did this happen? Where the hell were you? You had one fucking job, you imbecile.”
