“She’s becoming a liability.”

His raspy voice rang through Cassius’s ears and he licked his dry lips. The glass of ale between his fingers was swingling for his thoughts and his heart was squeezing uncomfortably. Why were these flutters affecting him again? Didn’t he promise that he would never feel this way again, except for Theodore?

“She was a liability the moment we married her.”

“Do you think people of Arendiel will accept her?” Ezra asked, looking up at the dark sky that represented nothing but his shadowed thoughts.

The night was cloudy, unlike the time he first felt something for her. The night they attacked her kingdom. It was such a beautiful night that he almost felt bad to make it into bloodshed. Almost.
