Chapter 9

When Clair finally opened her eyes, she saw the clear white ceiling above her that was starkly different from the one in her room. As she tried to turn her neck, a surging pain shot through her body, causing her to stop and only move her eyes around. She was in a hospital room.

“Why am I here?” She winced in pain.

The neck collar made her feel extremely uncomfortable, and she wanted to call out, but her throat was so dry that she could barely speak. She noticed the plaster around her arm and felt helpless as she lay there. Her heart filled up with despair as she gave out a painful scream, tears rolling down her eyes.

Suddenly, the doors opened quickly, and Ray bursted into the room, looking worried. "What happened?" he asked, concerned, as he came to her side.

"What is all this?!" she growled at him, as if it was his fault.
