Chapter 44. Siblings

DEREK and Latton sat in the bar acting as if nothing had happened. Both of them are drinking whiskey on the rocks.

The ambiance is silent and awkward, but Derek mustered the courage to speak first. "In my defense, you look different. You have loss a lot of weight and you loo...k.." He cleared his throat, then glanced away from her and let his words linger without continuation.

Latton glanced at him clearly waiting for him to finish speaking, then sighed when she had noticed he had no plan to finish his sentence.

"That’s not an excuse for being a perverted jerk," she explains while staring at her glass.

"Point taken." He responded while swirling his whiskey.

She lowered her head then asks, "Are you happy?"

He was startled by her question and did not answer.

"Are you happy seeing me like this? A failure and a fucking alcoholic." She added as she lifted her glass and gulped the liquor in one go.
