Chapter 62. Kara's Softness
Frank put on a slight smile. "So you do remember. Are you afraid of me?" he whispered while straightening her dress so as not to test his patience.
Kara's hands were tightly clenched. Various feelings were churning in her chest. She wasn't sure which was more dominant-desire or panic. What's certain was that she wanted to be safe.
"Yes," she said slowly.
As Frank's hand touched her neck again, her lungs turned tight again. Her body stiffened, and she could only hope for pity through her gaze.
"Please don't kill me .... Let me go. I swear I won't appear in front of you again," Kara pleaded between gasps.
Frank's smile turned sour. He now understood why Kara had hidden her identity. The girl was really afraid of him.
"Are you hurt?"
Kara swallowed hard. Without thinking, she shook her head. Her brain was only capable of conveying honesty.
"Good."
Kara furrowed her eyebrows. In her heart, she wondered what the muttering meant.
