“Are you feeling okay?” I muttered so only she could hear. Meadow wrapped her fingers around mine, swallowing again before she nodded. “Yeah.” A shiver shot down my spine at the feel of her warm fingers.

I fucking missed it. I wasn’t sure I could’ve survived another day without her touch.

“Did he hurt you?”

She smiled then—nothing too wide. Just a slight curve of her lips. “Almost. But I held my own.” Her gaze dropped to my mouth. “Told you I could handle myself.”
