Chapter 40

Adam's POV

Valerie's face froze, her expression morphing from shock to disbelief. Her lips were still parted from the single word she had uttered since I told her Analisse wasn't my mate. I watched as her mind struggled to accept what I had just said, her shock only seemed to deepen as she started pacing the length of the room. I wanted to pull her to me but decided against it when she came to an abrupt stop and brought her attention back to me.

“You don't have to lie, to cover up what you did. We are both adults and we can take full responsibility for our shortcomings.” she spat out, her voice having a biting tone. I didn't expect her to believe me, I doubt I would have believed it myself if it hadn't happened to me but it was the truth and if she would let me explain I would come clean about everything that happened. 

“I know what I'm saying to you might sound hard to believe but I just want to come clean” I said, trying to calm her down.
