Chapter 39
Adam's POV
I took steady strides towards her, watching as her eyes bulged as I closed the distance between us coming to stand directly in front of her, her bare toes rubbing against the leather of my shoes. She was nervous, I could tell and I was happy I wasn't the only one affected by how close we stood.
“How are you feeling after everything?” I asked, referring to her attack. Whenever my mind drifted to it, I still felt angry that all her captors escaped and they hadn't gotten what they rightfully deserve. I knew it was a sour topic but it was something we hadn't really talked about since she was rescued and I wanted to know how she felt sincerely. Her eyes left mine and bounced across the room, a tremble passed through her as she rubbed her hands down the length of her arms.
