Chapter 208. Bad News
Calla’s eyes peeled open slowly. A painful throb pounded against her head immediately, making her groan against the cloth tied tightly over her mouth.
For a few seconds, everything around her looked blurry. The dim light above her flickered weakly, offering no relief to the entire room. It made her eyes hurt even more as she tried to squint through the darkness.
Her breathing quickened. She tried moving instinctively, only to realize her hands were tied behind the chair. Thick ropes dug painfully into her wrists. Her ankles were tied too.
Panic slammed into her chest.
“Mmph—!”
The sound came out muffled behind the gag as she struggled harder, the chair scraping roughly against the floor.
