Chapter 27. White Shirt
Calla chatted and laughed with Nonna Luisa for a while, before leaving. She didn’t see Rico till she left.
Bruno drove her back home and she was quiet the whole ride. He didn’t glance or smile at her—not that he used to—but it was obvious how angry he was about what she did that night.
It was really fun to be sneaky, but she wouldn’t do it again. Rico let her easily, he won’t be nice next time.
Bruno dropped her and then he drove off. Where to? She didn’t care.
It was already past eight and Eli should be at home already. She got to the door, and with a twist of the knob, it opened.
“Hey, short stuff,” she called out as she walked into the house. She took off her shoe and tossed it to the floor
