“Thanks, you’re a lifesaver. Where’s Tink?” Beth asked, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear and squinting toward the front walkway. The fading twilight cast long shadows across the porch, and the flicker of jack-o’-lanterns reflected off the glass panels of the door.
The kitsune scowled, ears twitching in irritation. “I lost track of her after she pantsed some guy dressed like a preacher.” Yuki’s tails flicked behind her in annoyance as she leaned against the railing. “She is out there raising mayhem, and everyone assumed I was her mother, so that wasn’t fun for me. I ran into Death, he said he’d keep an eye on her until I get back.” She shot a wary glance down the street, as if expecting the goblin to appear at any moment, wielding some improvised weapon.
