Cristofer suddenly understood everything. Then he said, “Gretchen, I said I hated being deceived most.”
“Cristofer, what’s wrong with you today? Do you mean that I’m lying to you?”
“Gretchen, I’ll give you the last chance. Tell me, did you really see Estelle kill Mrs. Moorsum?”
Biting her lower lip, Gretchen became nervous, and her heart beat faster. “Cristofer, is there any progress about the case?”
“Answer me!” Cristofer growled.
Gretchen was frightened and trembled with fear. “What’s your problem? You scared me!” she said.
“You scared me too, Gretchen. I just saw a surveillance video that the investigative officer recovered, and now I feel a chill all over.”
“What surveillance video?”
Cristofer didn’t answer her question. Instead, he said disappointedly, “Gretchen, you still want to lie?”
