Chapter 20. Heated Moments

“Surprise! I’ll just whisk you away,” he told her in her ear and walked away towards the elevator, leaving Jacqueline spellbound. The entire morning, Jacqueline didn’t see him. She met Jaxon Craddock, Gilbert’s friend and partner who had returned from Las Vegas last night. It was lunchtime and Stanley called her to inform her that Gilbert had summoned her to his office. She wrapped up her work and dashed upstairs. Opening the door, she peered inside. Gilbert saw her and got up from his seat. She went in and closed the door after her. 

“Lock it,” he instructed. Jacqueline locked it. 

“Come and eat with me.” 

“Why aren’t you sharing lunch with your friend?” Surely, now that his friend was here, he didn’t need her to be his lunch partner. 

“He’s busy with his PA. Things have changed now,” informed Gilbert, and Jacqueline nodded. 

“Hmm, I see,” she said with a smile. Gilbert smiled back and went to sit on the sofa.
