Vera's POV

I was having lunch with Nathan on a quiet Friday afternoon when Hannah showed up at my door, tears in her eyes, to deliver the news of Monica’s death.

We rushed to Jack’s house without wasting a second. Hannah had been right all along. It was a terrible thing, watching someone walk toward death, knowing there was nothing you could do to stop it.

Monica had endured so much and sacrificed everything for the people she loved. She would be remembered by every heart that truly knew her.

My chest ached for her. The tears wouldn’t stop, especially when I thought about the people she left behind. She had tried to make her departure easier for them, but instead, it made everything harder.

She was a hero in every sense. A hero of love.

She passed away peacefully and was laid to rest at the church her father led. He said she asked him personally to bury her there.

People came from far and wide to pay their last respects, tho
