“Luna Diana, how about we communicate through the mind link instead?” Beta Seymor was so close to stuttering as he stood outside the closest cabin to the pack’s forest.

Diana, who was seated on the rocking chair, grinned. She stood up, put down her knitting materials, and trotted toward the balcony. Crossing her arms, she spoke. “Why don’t you come in? Isn’t it better to talk without the need to raise each other’s voice?”

It was Beta Seymor’s turn to roll his eyes in exasperation. His gaze zeroed on the massive pound of flesh and claws slumped and curled around the corner of the porch—its humungous body took most of the space as it pretended to sleep.

But Seymor knew how alert it was. The twitching pair of ears was the first telltale sign of how it was pretending to be harmless when it was an apex predator ready to tear down who dared to venture into the cabin without its approval.
