Chapter 45
NATASHA’S POV
I went downstairs to check the kitchen and it looked as good as I remember.
“I don’t know how to thank you honestly. The fence was just marvelous.” I said as I turned around to see Heph.
“It's nothing.” He said as I put his arm around my waist.
“I could not just watch that man treat you like that. You were on your knees, I’d never want to see you like that, at the mercy of someone else.” He said with a stoned expression.
I knew he was right. I had been desperate, willing to try anything to save our land. Usually, I'd never beg anybody, never beg the mayor of all people. I’d always fight back but recently, the exhaustion took a toll on me and I had no strength in me to fight back.
“I know. It’s something that’s been going on for years.” I told him.
