Fiona left the camp to find a quiet place away from the crowd. After Anneth's words, her mind was suddenly in turmoil, and all their struggles felt meaningless. To Fiona, the victory they had achieved was something worth preserving.
How many had died already? Fiona didn't even know their names.
When she saw Anneth approaching, she just scoffed in irritation. Fiona ignored Anneth as he sat beside her, her eyes fixed on the green landscape.
"My words were too harsh. I'm sorry," Anneth said.
Fiona looked at him out of the corner of her eye. "Yeah, sure."
Silence fell between them.
Anneth sighed, not knowing what to say to the woman beside him. He wanted to say much, but he was at a loss for words.
"After this victory, we won't have to take up arms again," Anneth said casually. "Maybe I'll just pick up a shovel and start farming."
Fiona snorted and smiled. "Maybe."
"Start a family, raise children, and live peacefully to the end
