"I..." Red was at a loss for words.
"Answer!" Aamon demanded firmly.
Suddenly, Anneth grabbed Aamon's arm and shook his head gently. "Don't be harsh. Red has reasons, and whatever they are, you have no right to question them."
Aamon released his grip and pushed Anneth's hand away. The young man stepped back from Red, disappointment written all over his face, making Red feel guilty.
"I have a sister; I mean, someone I think of as my sister," Red spoke. "Her name is Aelea Harts."
Red was not lying in this matter, as Aelea was not her biological sister, although they shared the same last name for security reasons. Aelea remained protected under Jeremiah's watchful eye.
Regardless, Red still thought of Aelea as her sister.
"Aelea Harts?" Anneth repeated.
Aamon's expression changed instantly, as did Anneth's. The two men exchanged glances.
