I pace outside the gray and black tent Alpha Cole and Luna Delaney have been staying in, where they took Kash after the ritual. Going anywhere else seemed wrong. My stomach twists and jounces like it did when I let Ingrid convince me to sled down one of the castle roofs during a particularly bad snowstorm.
Inside this tent sits my father. My real father. Not King Gavin, a rogue named Kash who I can smell from out here.
How is any of this happening? The ritual certainly isn’t secret, but he had twenty years to seek me out before now. I’ve been outside the castle many times over the years. I’ve even been out without Mother and Fath—King Gavin–if only to the village near the castle. There’s just no reason he only found me after Mother told everyone he existed.
Unless she made it happen.
