When I grabbed Xander in the headlock, I thought his tunic was kind of lumpy. Probably just a side effect of how loosely they wear them under those vests. When Xander climbed onto my back, I thought…well, mostly I thought that he’d set me up to win.
Now, with the entire line of my body pressed against Xander’s, there’s no other explanation I can invent for the soft rise of flesh beneath my chest. They’re small, compact, like they’re being crushed by something other than me, but unmistakable.
Xander has breasts.
I scrape through my memories of the Haze again—lips, hands, hips… nothing. Just a few flashes I can barely put together into the rest of the body before me, much less this.
Her hazel eyes go wide, swallowing the scraps of starlight above. “It’s not—”
“You have breasts,” I interrupt.
“No—well—”
“You’re a woman.” The words dissolve like a cloud of sugar on my tongue. On the trip here, back in Dun’s Crossing,
