Chapter 7. The Orb

Bernice impulsively ran out, catching the running deformities off guard. A ball of fire raced toward the girl, but Lucas' water shield blocked it. The deformities fell silent for a moment, and were even more surprised to see four teenage boys and a girl emerge from the front of a supermarket.

"What are you doing here?!" snapped one of them.

"Not now," said the other. "We have to go. Come on, Kids!"

The four teenagers followed in the footsteps of the seven figures of the Deformity squad who had such strong stamina. Their running was fast and agile, making it difficult for the teenagers to keep up. Elijah could tell that the deformities were approaching the Orb, for he could see more clearly that the light perpendicular to the sky was growing larger.
