Chapter 62. Promise Not to Leave

It was three days later when I woke up. My mind is hazy and I can barely remember what happened. Later, Veronica recounted to me some of the things she knew, like how Garrick and Cato argued about saving me, or how scared they were from the avalanche.

I lay on the bed with a white bandage on my head and listened intently. Veronica also mentioned Dominic. When it came to him, her attitude was clear with respect and admiration. She said Dominic sent 10 helicopters with the most professional rescue team here, or he himself went down the hole filled with ice to save her.

“I heard people say that Dominic was really cool at that time. He tried to find you, even said he heard your cry for help. Everyone has given up hope, only he has not.” Veronica wrapped a bandage on one hand, holding an apple in the other hand, biting the apple while talking. “I didn’t have much sympathy for him before, because I thought he was just infatuated with your beauty, not really in love with you.
