Chapter 40. Dirty Showdown

Elena’s POV

The first thing I noticed was how quiet everything suddenly felt.

The ballroom chaos was gone. The shouting. The staring. Even my own panic seemed far away now. I was still surrounded by soldiers, but the noise inside my head had softened. That was when Nova appeared. She just stood beside me, calm and steady, like she belonged there. “Dont be afraid, Alpha Eric knows,” she said softly. “He’s on his way.”

For a moment, I forgot to breathe. He knows. I didn’t ask questions. I didn’t doubt her. Those words alone were enough. The fear that had been choking me loosened its grip. Whatever came next, I wouldn’t face it alone.

The soldiers moved again. I didn’t fight them. There was no point. They pushed me into a car, sealed the doors, and cut me off from the world. The windows were blacked out. Time stretched. I lost track of how long we drove.

When the car finally stopped, the air felt different..I stepped out and lifted my head.
