Chapter 52. Took a Bullet for Him

Elena’s POV

My lungs locked up. For the first time since I met Eric, fear truly hit me. My legs were shaking out of fear.

Philip moved in front of me and pulled out a gun. His hand didn’t shake as he aimed it at Eric. “So what if I don’t hand her over?” Philip said.

Eric smiled slowly. He wasn’t nervous or anything, he looked entertained. “That would be a very bad decision,” he replied calmly.

Philip scoffed. “You’re really standing here pretending you care about her? You ignored her when your sister humiliated her and destroyed everything she worked hard for. You stood by while she was paraded like a criminal. Do you even know how many nights she cried because of you?”

Eric’s smile vanished. “You don’t get to speak about what belongs to me.”

Philip’s voice hardened. “How’s she yours? I stayed with her when you disappeared. I helped when you didn’t. If you had any decency at all, you’d just set her free.”

Eric’s eyes shifted, finally
