This morning, Diego made good on his threat.
At seven sharp, he was already banging on my door reminding him I have an early morning meeting with some clients at the tech company. As if Markus was in cohort, I think he was with him, he didn’t stop calling. I almost fired him at the spot with how annoying he was this morning.
“If you don’t drag your sorry self to that meeting today,” he warned, “You can forget about doing any confirmation DNA, I’d tell Dahlia myself how unworthy you are, to be her man, or her cousin.”
So here I was, sitting in a conference room at the tech company, staring at the slides the team was presenting but hearing absolutely nothing. They could’ve been pitching flying drones or robotic waiters for all I knew—my mind was elsewhere.
