The pace at which Izzy explains pisses me off, but I still have to understand because she is presently in her feelings too. Yet, my patience is running out.

“She just wanted to protect you.”

Protect me. I got that since the time she started talking.

“She thought she was doing the right thing,” Izzy went on. “Alex told her if she cooperated, he’d help you on a clean sheet.”

“And cooperating meant what?” I asked, though I already felt the answer forming.

Izzy hesitated. “He was behind the videos.”

My heart slammed violently against my ribs.

“The one with Loren,” she clarified. “And the one with Dahlia.”

My vision blurred red.

“He orchestrated both,” Izzy said.

“And Dahlia?” I forced out. “What does she have to give in return?”

“She was the price,” Izzy said, tears spilling freely now.

“Izzy, please.” I finally snapped, losing control. “Just get to it.”

It worked. It hastened her pace a little
