Chapter 42. Shouldn’t Santiago

In the evening, I made a few calls to my mother. I mean, my real mother. Over the past four years we have had communication and I have learned that she has a sensible job and her own tailoring that she is passionate about. Somehow my longing for her diminished.

She was very happy with what I told her. I also called Aunt Anna that I will go home with Marrie. Aunt Anna said that Dad’s condition was still the same in the hospital. She said he was only awake once and could not talk much because of the water in his lungs. One of the reasons why I don’t want to depend on them to study is because I know Dad’s hospital fees are expensive. Also one of the reasons I want to go home is because I want to know how the company is doing. If the James Santiago are doing well in our company.

The trip to Manila takes a few hours. I am wearing a thick jacket while Luca is busy with the calls on his cellphone.
