Chapter 66

The automatic doors slide when my feet touch the rubber carpet. I squeeze my yellow coat tightly, trying to absorb all the joy of this color before being surrounded by the white and cold walls of the hospital. The smooth floor slips under my All Star sneakers and I arrive quickly at the reception. The nurse with glasses bottom of a bottle and chewing a noisy gum looks at me, stretching one hand. I deliver the same paper I received when I left St. Carolin with my recommendation to seek psychiatric support in state hospitals, since the institution in which I was hospitalized belongs to the government.

The woman types on her computer some numbers in my record and says aloud the follow-up I want. For a moment I think she wants to embarrass me, but my nervousness about feeling the familiar smell of antiseptic, and seeing people walking from one side to the other wearing white clothes, doesn't let me react in any other way than shrink and just wait.
