MELISSA

I look at her and see a smile on her lips, and I smile back.

"Okay, you did it; I'm going to the event with Jacob!" I say, raising my hands as she starts laughing at my expression.

"That's great; I'm imagining the beautiful outfit you're going to wear today..." she says thoughtfully, and I shake my head, reaching into my bag for my cell phone.

There were no more messages from Jacob after he said that I didn't need to worry about today's event and that everything would be fine without me. I look at the time and see that it's already late, and I don't know if I can make it to this event anymore.

Thinking about the possibility of Jacob inviting another girl to go with him makes me feel angry inside.

I don't want to show it, but I don't feel right thinking that another girl could be with him right now. I can't be jealous of someone who isn't mine and will never be mine; he's a handsome single man, and there must be plenty of women willing to b
