Chapter 33
MELISSA
"Yes, she was very interested, but I'm with another, prettier girl tonight, and I can't leave her alone," he mutters, and I turn my head to see that the girl in the red dress is looking at us with an annoyed expression on her face. I smile more discreetly as Jacob, and I continue dancing. I look around to see that lots of people are watching us.
The rhythm of the classic song picks up, and we start dancing more intensely this time.
I've never felt this way before in my life; it's as if something is drawing me strongly to this man, a connection too strong to be easily ignored or forgotten.
"I know it's been a long and sad day for you because of your friend, but congratulations on university! I knew you'd make it, Mel," he says, smiling, and I nod. It has been a long day for me. I've cried, and now I'm smiling in front of the most handsome man I've ever seen in my life. Life is very crazy, but I still wish my best friend well right now.
