Chapter 2. Infinitely Running
The prophecy. It's even harder now to escape from humility. Damion screamed and wolf out. His drooling mouth pointed into Faye's precious body. Faye is not bothered to move, not even scared of him. But Damion wants her, he wanted to kill her. For some reason, there's a part of him that wanted to break the rules, although it would cost his life. But the fact that he's in danger too, stopped him.
Faye laughed while looking at the helpless Damion, wanting to humiliate him even more. Continuously breathing, desperately hoping that Faye wasn't his mate. But his wolf says otherwise. He can feel it inside. That feeling a while ago of wanting to kill, turn into a desire to mate.
"Who sent you here?" asks Jacob vulnerably. He has numerous wounds, some of which are fatal. "Sombermane? Or Starry Banes?"
Damion looked away. Faye thought he was about to leave and escape, so he held his arms, and wanted to pull him inside their unit, and lock him up. As soon as she hold him, the spark of electricity flowed from her through him. They both feel the rush of libidinous running all the way down there. It's now activated, no one could stop them. Damion held Faye's neck, locking her in between his arms. Faye wrapped her arms around him, and couldn't fight the desire even though she was in front of her parents.
Faye licked her lower lip and furrowed her brows. She felt the liquid coming out of her.
"What is this? Why does it feel so hot? Damn, I can't help but be honest," asked Fate nonconsciously.
"I don't know either. I just met my mate," Damion answered huskily and sexily. Damn, he just turned on Faye just the way he speaks.
Lucy and Jacob stepped outside to stop the two. One step only and they will stop them, but Damion did the honor. Not because he was scared of Jacob and Lucy, but the smell that he feel a while ago when Faye held his arms.
He took some time to recognize, to make sure it was really them. No matter how many times he denies it, it was the Sombermane Band Pack, all drooling and wanting to kill Faye.
"W-we have to leave," says Damion, holding Faye's hand- while also fighting the arousal simultaneously. Jacob took her daughter's hand angrily and pulled her to come with him.
"Yes, and we will leave without you," Lucy responded.
"W-what?" Damion responded, furrowing his brows.
Lucy mimicked him, and then reply, "Do you think we will keep you safe just because you're her mate? Besides, you can lie and tell them you missed us."
The threat of the enemy is getting stronger. The scent is getting nearer. Damion has left no choice but to threaten them.
"But if I get killed here, she will too," he says, pertaining to Faye. "We're connected now, remember? Jacob reminded me too."
Lucy and Jacob looked into each other, bothered by what he just said. He made a point, somehow enough to convince the two. Faye got scared. But since her parents are not doing anything, she'd decided to pull Damion toward her and then initiated to run away.
All of them wolf out, running away using their claws, and widened feet to go faster. But they stopped when Jacob did. His severe wound got worst, completely sucking his strength and blood. Because the blood kept dripping from his arm, the scent will get worse, and they will get track sooner before they know it.
"Jacob..." Lucy uttered. His lips are now pale, and he shifted into a human.
"Leave, Lucy. You can leave me here so Faye would be safe," he says. Lucy shook her head and held his cheeks to assure him.
"I won't leave you here. We're mated. How can I protect Faye if you will die? I will die too, and no one is left in this world that will protect Faye but us! Hold on, Jacob, just a little longer. We will get out of here safe."
Lucy pulled his hand to continue running. But he resisted and pulled his hand back. He caressed Lucy's cheeks and smiled.
"Remember? We're not mated. We've waited for several years, waiting for our wolves to recognize each other, but they couldn't. Not even once, or a single clue shows you're my mate. We weren't mated, we just chose each other because of love. So you can still be safe, even though I will end up dead. Please, go."
Faye's eyes widened, grain of tears started falling. It was the first time she have heard about her parents' history. What else does she need to know? First, the Moonstone, and about those werewolf packs who are insane to hostage her and ripped her body apart. Next, this fact about her parents.
Damion held her hand, trying to distract her from the pain circulating around her chest. He got her attention, enough for her to look at him curiously. Faye took her hand back, crossed her chest to hide her hands, and stepped a little farther from him. Damion furrowed his brows out of confusion. A while ago, Faye was so wild and excited to mate. But now, this? She's hard to read, at least for Damion.
Lucy couldn't accept Jacob and the fact that he was feeling weak. So she tried her best to put him behind her, and she will do the running.
"Hmm, the taste of this air, coming from the scent of that girl. She's Faye they say, am I right? We're getting nearer. Thanks to the Beta of Sombermane Band Pack," says one of the werewolves coming to their place.
Damion heard it. He can hear them because they were the members of his pack. Right now, he felt worried sick about this family. He couldn't afford to see them suffering. Damion then sucked Jacob's blood and spat it on the ground. He tear a piece of cloth from his cloth and wrapped it around the wound. Finally, he put Jacob on his back, preparing for the run to be faster than it was.
"Where are we going?" asked Lucy.
"Back to the forest."
Faye was surprised but negative.
"We will not go back there," Faye interfered.
"Do you know any place you can hide from? A place that no one would suspect?"
Faye thought about it for a while. It was weird, and she felt uncomfortable that she thought of that man. But there's no place in her heart is for her shame right now.
"Yes, he is Lowell."
"Is it a man?" asks Damion.
Without thinking further. Faye nodded. Damion's rush emotion of anger made him drop Jacob to the ground.
"A MAN?! DAMN IT! ARE YOU EVEN THINKING?"
Scared Faye stepped backward. A loud yell makes her heart pound faster, enough to walk away from him. Although stuttering, she managed to talk.
"He's my friend, and he's not scared of we-werewolves..." Faye responded, looking away. Damion wanted to take out his anger, which in the first place he shouldn't have felt, on Lowell already. But they have to be quick. Any time now, a werewolf hunter will discover them.
Lucy got mad. Jacob is now unconscious, leading to the conclusion that he might not wake up again. So Damion runs faster.
While running, they failed to not get discovered. Sombermane Band pack's army is already chasing them, licking their lips, playing with their tongue. The army is imagining possessing the Moonstone they believed is in Faye. They struck their arrows toward them. Luckily, Damion knows their move. Although they couldn't see the army, he still did it blindly.
Before he know it, they were already in front of Lowell's house. It's designed modernly. There's a terrace on the second floor and a pool on the first floor which can be seen as soon as you enter the gate, and it's just fascinating with the interior designs.
Lowell was a bit worried to see a strange man carrying Jacob enter his house. What if he was a bad werewolf who was just pretending to be caring and will eat him? Lowell thought but erased it in his hand. It was the luck of Jacob that saved them all. If it weren't for him, they wouldn't have the rush of running faster. However, Faye is not lucky enough to avoid the arrow. But the horrible fact is that no one knows it. Damion felt Faye's pain. The reason for him to go out of Lowell's house.
At the back of him, there's a pain that feels like someone is penetrating. What he feels, is exactly what Faye felt.
"Thank you for letting us in," Lucy broke the silence, as her daughter, who should've done it, is not speaking.
"No worries, Lucy. For Faye and for your family, I will do anything," Lowell responded while smiling- making Lucy feel she was not a burden.
Lucy licked Jacob's fatal wound to heal him faster. He was still unconscious, but his pale face turned to normal. Those little signs are enough to calm the worried heart of Lucy. The silence helped Lowell to notice Faye, who is now unconscious. He looked closely, thinking he might be wrong, and hoping she was okay. But he was right.
"L-Lucy, is this normal? Is she normal when her veins are showing visibly and looked like some black thing is flowing through them?" asked Lowell, trembling.
Lucy looked at Faye. The one whom they were willing to die for just to protect, got hurt. She rushed into her daughter.
"Oh, my god. In no time, she will turn into a corpse! Why so soon?" Lucy whispered, feeling panic-stricken.
"There's a poison."
