Chapter 3. Mated or Cursed?

Faye's Point of View.

I remember, there was a cloudy dark smoke dominating my eyesight before I completely closed my eyes. Cold air simply covers my body. It's as if I was being blanketed using an ice blanket. The first thing that comes into my mind, is Damion. I hate that he has to be connected to my pain. Responsibility for taking care of my body is not my thing. I wanted to be a wild alcohol drinker until I'm crawling because of intoxication, party with my friends in a club where hot boys do come, and no one can be blamed if ever I got into an accident and die.

His appearance in my life is quite disturbing. The first day of the meeting, and I'm already feeling humiliated when my wolf rushed in wanting to mate. In front of my parents, my coquettishness showed that I try hard to hide! And now, there's an arrow intoxicating my body slowly, spreading all the poisons extracted into the arrow. Now, instead of just thinking about myself healing, I will also think about him endlessly without a warning.

I woke up, and the first thing I saw is my mother.

"Faye! Oh god, Faye, you're awake!" she yelled and hugged me. I couldn't react because I still feel like I'm in a vegetative state. Even my eyesight is not yet completely back to normal. It still feels blurry and shaky.

Mother Lucy went out and shouted for dad to come in. He didn't waste a single second and rushed into my bed. My parents hugged me, feeling so relieved that I'm awake and out of danger. But it is just for now. Tomorrow, or maybe later, a group of werewolves might come and attempt to kill me. Who knows? I was even mated to a man who was selfish and greedy, dying to kill me. Is it really helpful to trust the Moon Goddess your life mate? I mean, Mother and Father are not mated, but it's not a hindrance to not loving each other unconditionally.

The whole time that my parents are talking about my state with Uncle Lowell and Aunt Fatima, who just came right after I collapsed, I was preoccupied with Damion's. I roamed my eyes around to clear my mind and ease my anxiety.

I'm in a room at Uncle Lowell's house. Maybe this is the guest room. It's all black, a color we all consider peaceful. I was so impressed to see all things here. From books, scent, color... but it all fades when I see Damion, lying parallel to me.

I looked closely to see if it was really him. I tried to lie to myself that it wasn't him. But then again, I failed. He was here, in a vegetative state, completely weak.

"Mom," I uttered, silencing them and interfering with their chit-chats. "Damion's here? Still here? I thought you don't want him to stay with us?" I added.

Mother gave Damion a look first and then gave it back to me.

"I know, it's confusing. I don't want to do it as well as your dad. But we saw him outside, lying on the ground, while the rain is pouring hard," mom explained. I furrowed my brows. So, it'll feel like my intestine is connected to him? Moon Goddess is just so old school! This is a modern world. Just because we hide our identity from humans, she will come to this extent of ruling mated werewolves?

Father held my hand. A few minutes had passed before he spoke.

"As much as we wanted you to have freedom, we can't decide. When you feel that much pain, Damion is feeling it twofold. You see, we couldn't tell if he will survive the poison."

I'm beyond startled. Twofold? Really? Your own life is inevitable to die! Now that I'm connected with his life, I would be the one at fault. Cripes. I couldn't even explain how annoyed I am right now.

--

It's been a week. I almost thought he wouldn't be able to wake up. We've tried to experiment with so many antidotes, herbal teas, and western medicines, but none worked. We lose hope and just waited for him to die.

Fortunately, he woke up. Or, should I even recognize it as fortunate? Just to answer my own question, yes, because I will die too.

"W-Why am I still here?" Damion asked as soon as he woke up.

Auntie Fatima went to check up on the poison in his body. It was a miracle because she says that it's all gone now. After delivering the news, everyone went out. I was the only one left. I was just examining his weak body.

"You're here because we're bound to meet," I replied.

He chuckled.

"Even if we are, I still don't want to be with you."

"Do you think I wanted?" I replied vexed.

"Of course, you wouldn't admit it. But I already know," he stopped for a while and shifted his tone to sexy. "That dirty look and seductive touch we've shared? It helps to increase my sex drive."

Damn, I wouldn't deny it. This kind of tone of his is so addicting and panty-dropping! I couldn't reply as soon as he speak. My Father went in to claim me back. Psh, really? Now that I'm enjoying Damion's game? I was about to respond to it, but only if my Father didn't interfere.

Father put me on his back.

"You're not allowed to come near my daughter," he clearly stated.

"What are you talking about, dad? We live in the same house, of course, we will meet."

I crossed my arms, just pitifully shaking my head. Dad's somehow illogical. Alpha of Sombermane, huh? Maybe he's only good at fighting. His brain maybe got shrunk due to the lot of muscle he added to his body. Jeez!

"Because I don't want!" Dad replied, and I laughed.

"Dad-"

"Just listen to me!"

"No worries, Mr. Jacob. I will be the one who'll avoid her. As soon as I regain my energy, I will leave this place and never show my face again to your daughter," says Damion recklessly. Or, is he really reckless?

Dad and Damion stuck their eyes into each other as if they were electrocuting each other. They don't have such powers, duh. But I was starting to feel so intimidated and uncomfortable. Dad broke the stare and pulled me out. He was holding me tight and I couldn't breathe. I was trying to claim my hand back, but he wasn't giving it to me. I went berserk and threw his hands.

"Why are you being irrational?" I asked.

"You just don't understand!"

"Dad, if I can't, then tell me. Explain it to me so I would! I'm not a mere child and an immature teenager. Explain to me if needed. You don't have to suffer alone with the suffocating information you just noticed. Tell me."

Almost, he was so close to telling me. But I collapsed.
