Aiden's POV

"Mama!" I called out, breaking the silence that settled in the packhouse, my feet pattering across the creaky floorboard. My lips twisted when I didn't hear a response. Why was my mother not responding to me? Turning five made me reach all sorts of knobs on the door, which excited me. With my newfound ability, I pushed the door of the nearest room, which happened to be my parent's bedroom.

"Mama?" I patted at my mothers back as she hurriedly stuffed her clothes in the bag, shoulders shaking lightly. She didn't turn, bother turning around, pushing her hair away from her face.

"Are we going on a trip, mama?" My lips broke out in a grin; palms excitedly joined together. The last one we went to did not work out for us as daddy had an early meeting.

"No!" She wetly laughed, whipping her head around, eyes red and puffy. My hands wound around her wrist tightly, hoping to send her happy ph
