I crept toward the door, listening intently.

"Something is wrong here. Something bad has happened."

"Maybe you're just imagining things," my father replied.

"There are monsters in our town! You've got to believe me!"

"Monsters?" My father scoffed.

"What kind of nonsense is that? There aren't any monsters in this town. Now calm down and tell us what happened."

"They attacked me in the woods, and now they're attacking everyone else."
