Chapter 28

Mario's POV:

Well, I'm still here. Thank heavens, Angelo had decided not to kill me but sent me far away.

He had said, "I can't say I believe those allegations but I don't trust you. Neither do I trust Diego. But all these years, you've stuck with me and I know what it feels to be without parents. I can't bear to watch your daughter go through the same."

Never have I heard Angelo speak like that to me. Surely, I owed him my life.

A young lady had followed us from the supermarket. She was beautiful and I wondered why she would want anything from me.

At first, I wanted to approach her but I thought, "She could just be heading the same way with us."

But, I had seen her stop when the children had flocked around me for lollipops. I saw a smile pass her small lips when I gave it out to the children. The smile must have done the magic as it had made her look harmless and innocent that I could not but let
