Chapter 32
Avery’s POV
I dab the thin skin underneath my eyes with foundation bake, making sure to properly conceal the dark purple discoloration on it. After that, I decorate my eyes thoroughly with amber eye shadow and fluff up my lashes with some mascara. After applying an ample amount of lip gloss, I examine my overall look in the mirror. I don’t look like a sleep-deprived zombie anymore, and I make a double thumbs up at my reflection before setting about to find my shoes.
About fifteen minutes later, I’m strutting down the street with all the grace of a baby sheep in my uncomfortable kitten heels, and I pull my cashmere coat closer to my body to stave off the frigid autumn wind. The sky is clear, and the day looks mostly promising, but for me, it might as well be my last chance to live as a normal citizen.
It’s the final day of the ultimatum, and I’m headed to the police station to tell them everything I know about Gaius, including the location of some of his dens
